Pokémon aren’t supposed to die in battle, but when wannabe-optimist Serena Johnson loses a teammate to the first gym, she decides to find out why it all went wrong. Surely it has nothing to do with an incident she'd rather leave buried.
Meanwhile, as the Fleur Foundation strays from its charitable roots, it raises suspicion from more than one Kalosian figurehead. And when the truth crashes down, it will take more than anyone anticipated to rise again.

An XY fancomic based loosely on the nuzlocke challenge, active 2016–17 and effectively dropped in early 2018. Originally posted on deviantART, but an offsite mirror seemed like a nifty thing to have, so here we are.
The comic will not be finished, but for a couple big rambly doses of where it was headed (alongside gratuitous author commentary), have two character profiles/summaries from 2018: since-recycled minor character Flynn Smith and the protagonist herself, Serena Johnson.
