September update roundup
Vaugely-monthly update post that is not going to pretend to be anything more than a bunch of updates.
I noticed recently that I repeated a handful of updates in the last few blog posts. (I did not have the forethought to write these repeats down, as I found them, and so they remain unamended indefinitely.) This is mostly because GitHub distinguishes commit history by calendar month, and also I did not look at previous posts before trucking ahead with the next. Subsequently, this one is being limited to August 24–September; my output htis month so far is just a handful of backlogged fixes, but still.
It is not realistic for me to make update-posts on The First Day Of The Month Always Exactly, but still. Makes things marginally easier for future-me :V
not-site things
September simultaneously flew by and feels like two disparate months. I mean, I’m a broken record every month re:time passing too fast, but what the hell.
- watched The Matrix, you might have heard of it. It’s weird being able to see both how this became like, The™ terminally online right-winger meme film, and at the exact same time for not-entirely-disparate reasons Neo is a pathetic soggy egg of a not-man. To me. the outro???
- An iCloud purge happened. I have nothing particularly relevant to report from it except that 1) old blogger yells at cloud, and 2) videos take up an actual fuckton of space and for what.
- Oh, and 3) I can actually draw on my iPad again…! Yes, I was memory-locked out for a few months. That was fun.
- random off-the-cuff thoughts that aren’t tweets but read like tweets:
- “follow your heart” well the heart wants to fucking explode
- An unfortunate thing I have had to learn at molasses-slow motion is that not making a choice is, in fact, itself. a choice. I have no thesis about this at this point in time. It just is.
- Wanted a new earworm, dove into Bastille’s discography some. Did not realize they had some absolutely fucking baller covers!! Earworm itch was scratched by “Hangin’,” and then again today by a not-Bastille artist on a rec. Repeat coffers #full for the next several weeks. #hellYeah

- /art-2026: “kc-ai.png; or, non-euclidean scarves” is what happens when I draw very little for several weeks, read a bit too much AI discourse, and lose my fucking marbles. The “description” is a blogpost in its own right, moreso than previous descriptions which at least pretend to be about the art a little.

- stash/tablejs.html: In my ongoing informal attempts to make spreadsheets that aren’t on Google Sheets, I have figured out how to auto-sort a table alphanumerically by column, and also search it. Both are extremely rudimentary and the former is not keynav-friendly. Anyway, data for your data.
- brame.html: A ??moodboard featuring a bunch of unrecognizable grayscale static, pictures of things which inspired the central, uh. whatever that is. Whole thing’s fullscreen if your browser supports the relevant CSS.
I would like to have more to say about this, but honestly it was not terribly challenging because I already figured out the core code back in uhhh. 2022. (link liable to break/move eventually.) Never finished those, not particularly brain-possessed enough to revisit them, but hey! A basis.
Random otherwise-completely-hidden pages not in the /shriblets folder are what, theoretically, the ✨new and revamped✨ shriblets backend is for. It remains a “someday” thing.
future things??
- A while ago I made & rigged up a human base model for perspective & lighting ref. It’s rigged Better now. You will probably see it in an art description.
- Every so often I get possessed to draw all my characters in one go. The more people I spawn the more time-consuming this gets.
- Blender is really good for making picture-perfect perspective and blocking out shapes to put in perfect perspective and also spending way way way way way way way way too much time on small details that will literally not be visible in the picture at all.
…I’m probably hyping up the subject in question too much. Mostly just throwing thoughts here while the actual thing sits patiently as a WIP, temporarily sidelined as it has been while I make obscene amounts of fake money.
