Specialty Items

Specialty items are sorted into three broad subcategories onsite (Specialty Items, Vistas, Scenes):

• “Specialty Items” encompasses genes (dragon markings), vials (dragon eyes), and miscellaneous items like the “permabab” scroll and a silhouette switcher.
• Vistas are avatar decorations, visible primarily on forum posts in each comment’s sidebar and (optionally) on individual dragon bios.
• Scenes change background of your individual dragons. Unlike vistas, which are universally applied, scenes work like apparel: if you want multiple dragons with the same scene, you need multiple copies of the scene.

Where’d the data tables go?

This site used to have separate pages for genes and vistas; I found it unwieldy, and now they’re all in one giant spreadsheet. It’s a little rough around the edges, but should be easier to reference than clicking through the Game Database one item at a time ;V

• Ancient genes can’t be applied to modern breeds and vice versa. (The difference in a nutshell, besides genes: ancients can’t wear apparel. More about why that’s a thing in the teaser announcement from 2019.)
• There are no hidden columns in Ba Sing Se. (It’s just data that makes things less repetitive for me to edit.)
• Marketplace-T = costs treasure, -G = costs gems
• “w/ dom” refers to the 15% treasure marketplace discount you get if your flight is dominating. See below for a tip on taking advantage of it even if you’re not in the lead!
• cycling and NotN items are available once a year, and (unless otherwise noted) can be obtained just by clicking around the site and doing things. It’s free lootbox estate!
• If the notes are cut off, click the offending cel and look up. On desktop, the cel’s full content is visible around the top of the page, in a line between the Google Sheets header and the actual spreadsheet. (I make no promises for mobile.)

Flight never wins dominance? Want a Baldwin gene you’re underleveled for? Checking the Item Sales forum for user-run shops! Look out for keywords like dom shop and brew or cauldron, respectively.

• Coliseum items can drop from any venue.
• The following items are extremely difficult if not impossible to obtain if you weren’t present for initial release: Imperial scrolls, Scattersights, anything clanbound
  • Galore occasionally offers new clanbound items; if there’s something new to pick up, you’ll receive an alert.
• You will rarely, if ever, see maturity scrolls or cooldown boons in circulation. Barring first-day-breed-release bragging rights, you’re better off saving the gems and waiting it out.

A small handful of vistas are not listed in the Game Database because there are no associated items. As detailed by this guide:
