Phew, talk about a relic! The only art program I used at the time was MSPaint; I remember scouring deviantArt for hours trying to find good free lines compatible with both MSPaint’s pixelization and lack of transparency.

As a side note, the file date is November 2010, but the dA upload suggests January 2011. I’m inclined to believe the latter, but this’ll be one of the oldest arts on this site regardless. Maybe the 2010 date is from the original lineart file…?

Wyndbain’s deviantArt is, as of June 2022, still online. The wolf lines, both pixelated and original, have alas been lost to time—but the dollmaker game they’re from has been preserved through a Flash game archive. (a-flyleaf/NightAuctor has not tried this and should not be held liable for whatever the download does.)

~He’s on the short side thanks to his neck not being as long as a normal Isos’, nor does he have much muscle.
~He wishes he had inherited his mother’s element, Air, as he thinks it fits his personality more.
~He likely wouldn’t know that his element his Earth if it weren’t for his mother’s coaxing to experiment; he’s resented her ever since.
~His father wasn’t absent during his “childhood,” as he’d like to tell himself and those around him; instead, Zero just held a grudge against him for passing down the Earth element and avoided contact whenever possible. He wasn’t saddened by his father’s death.

Almost none of this is relevant anymore ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ Nowadays (writing in 2022) I do not characterize Zero as terribly serious, blunt, or angsty; sounds like this version of Zero would probably hate who he’s become. But I suppose he’s always liked flying, stalking observing others, and scavenging (exploring)?

A spotlight fades down in grayscale on the disaster duo, each subtly colored monochrome, neither smiling. Process shots of the eel-horse-raptor in a dynamic upshot running pose: the original sketch and concepts (on lined notebook paper), a vector traceover, and a modified traceover with more distinct body part segments.

For a school assignment; essentially an Adobe Illustrator demo. Pose tweaked based on feedback. I miiight have intended to color this eventually, based on how the body got broken up, but never got around to it.

Full-color four-page comic, titled "**The Guardian**." Description below written more for narrative than exact panel-by-panel specifics. - A terrified child runs through the streets, holding some type of gem close. They turn into an alley---and notice something. A monster is eating the trash. - The monster (the eel-horse-raptor, henceforth "ehr") is surprised and snarls. The child, though surprised, is unphased and reaches out playfully; ehr shrinks back, not sure how to handle the situation. Then the kid reaches for some food in the trash, shoving the ehr aside. - "Oh, *there* you are!" An adult stands in the alley now, arms outstretched. "Come back now, child, I won't hurt you. You know it's not safe to play with monsters like that." But the kid, suddenly scared, hides behind the ehr. - The adult raises his chin. He's wearing a belt with slots for three colorful stones; one is missing. "Step back, creature," the adult says. "This child is a thief. He's under my protection, and I'd hate to take him back---forcibly, that is." - The ehr glares back at the child. "Besides," continues the adult, "who's to say he's not trying to steal from *you* now?" Teeth bared, the ehr swings its head towards the child, who cowers--- - ---but the child is placed on the ehr's back. The adult reaches for a gun but is swiped back by the ehr, who rears like a horse. - With the child safely on its back, the ehr gallops into the night. - The child is uncertain. "He's--- he's right, you know." They're holding tight, but looking back. "I shouldn't be out here on my own, I'm just some stupid little---" - The ehr glances back. Sympathetic. - "Thank you..." And with that, they disappear into the darkness.

This thing is effectively a standalone design but I kinda just wanted an excuse to share these.

Sketchy references for two animals: a curled-up orange tabby kitten with bright gold eyes, and a dark pitbull mix with a graying muzzle & foggy blue eyes.

Just some cute animals who appear in the disaster crew’s storylines. Gee, I sure hope nothing bad happens to them.

I thiiink these are the first drawings of these two? or at least the earliest “definitive” references.

Extremely red sketch: Some guy, shocked, gets pulled into a kiss by Nico, who's glaring defiantly at the viewer with a little smirk. His free hand is flipping the bird. Below that, an uncolored sketch of them both at a laptop. The guy, Flynn, looks like he's about to have a heart attack; Nico, however, slams the table and cackles.

First sketch is titled “for my gf”; Nico and Flynnegan bathed in red, Nico won’t be sleepin’ in bed~

The second sketch was drawn first but I thought this order looked funnier. What’s on the laptop? Were these even supposed to go together?? The world may never know.

Also not deliberate is how nigh-invisible dark some of the backgrounds are. Bottom row has a slight levels adjustment. It has been years and I do not remember to what degree I wanted the details to get lost.

Screwing around with base palettes on various palettes, and some story-relevant outfits. The scenes represented are significant; the specific looks haven’t really been revisited.

Zero Days Since Last Dysfunctional Duo Standalone Drawing

Finally finished the “dragonsonas” for these two and, in keeping with a tradition of having lineless little* profiles of their human counterparts in the bios, I decided to try something with two in one. Then this happened!

*If you squint the shapes are pixelated along the edges, because I ended up doing this at twice the normal size and want to make sure it’ll scale back down correctly. But hey, if I hadn’t gone overboard, this wouldn’t have got a dA upload.

Oh and bonus factoid while I’m here: Did you know one story idea I entertained a while back with these two/the rest of the related cast was getting stuck on a cruise ship courtesy zombie apocalypse? Boy, that would’ve aged like milk.

Aforementioned “dragonsonas” are on Flight Rising: at the time of writing, 2017!Nico’s bio features a cropped version of this art, while 2017!Ivy has a separate drawing entirely (because hers didn’t work as well as a standalone).

As an additional artist’s note, they’re both cartoonishly exaggerated here, Ivy moreso. Strong posing for visual clarity does not get along with the way normal human beings tend to interact.

ENA“sona" concepts - 3/26: the original idea, three slightly different versions Everything else is from 4/23. - "You again." In which the "sona" returns, based on the "sociable/apathy" duality. - "sociable = organic---or robotic because it's less authentic/on script? - Assorted takes on the head shape. Hair could be a mess all over? Some heads remind me of [the Shepherd](https://enajoelg.fandom.com/wiki/The_Shepherd) and the [Kast](https://kast.gg/) logo. Head shouldn't be too wide; in the right-half-only mode, white out the eye? - Running with the Kast-logo just for fun, "this isn't a 'sona' anymore but Neat™!". Could be a monster form? Body built of shapes like 3D modeling bones? - More takes on the hair. - Fun with limbs. "normal sleeves + Hell Hands?" - Process of an asymmetrical body plan. - "anime hair-lookin ass...", and the body plan with clothing. - Last but certainly not least, a finished drawing of the character in both modes, seemingly standing on a 2000s Windows desktop. The background was an afterthought and there iiiissss no real story context (this is not remotely canonical, other than the general vibe of the idle animations being in-character), but I’ve been toying with this crew again lately and wanted to do something with those FNF-inspired sketches from the other week. Got the idea to throw in a couple kids to “finish” the scene and bada bing bada boom.

No wings because it made the flag area too busy, but what is Zero if not a very variable lizard.

1) A side view bust of the "sawface" monster, titled "can opener." In subsequent images: 2) the upper and lower mouths swing open, the middle jaw protruding further, and 3) the middle "jaw" spins. Messed around with the program AnimeEffects as a potential AfterEffects replacement for 2D art. It didn’t stick, but I got this funky little bust out of it!
